Do you mean hinged headboards vs. string?

Hi Doug,

One of my boats uses Carr Sails and the other Stern Sails on both boats I use a hinge sown to the HeadBoard. Both work well and I believe assist twist. Recently I rebuilt a boat and tied to the Headboard with string. In light ait the twist does not shape easily.

I have gone away from pivoted head boards as they are rather difficult to install and keep the leach in it's proper relationship.

The keys to using a "string" succesfully are to keep the top sail slug (or bead etc) at least 4 inches below the head and tie the string hallyard to an angle slightly foreward of the center of the grommet.

I have had no trouble setting twist neither have I had the head fail to swing out fully on a run
