OK, all you engineers

Has anyone calculated the moment of inertia of the Goldspar mast? Can you save me some calculator time?

thanks

Paul,

You want to know if the Goldspar mast is been correctly specified for the loads of the EC12?

Chuck
Want to do some deflection analysis for an idea that I have. Calculating I is not a big deal but it is a lot easier if someone else has already done it, especially on a complex shape

Well...

I have not. My big boat engineering comes from custom steering systems on vessels in the 90-150ft range. Safety factors on what were accepted as "standard" formulas were often near 50%. This was of course for dynamic loading which is nearly impossible to measure accurately.

I am curious if the effects on a full size boat can be correctly scaled down to the EC12 and be meaningful. Have you done this Paul?
