Sorry if this has been thrashed out before..can't seem to find discussion on search.
What is the main method used by forum members?
I use round not groovy. My second hand EC12 came with round and I used luff rings or spectrum ties. But I note most views i see via Dr. Google it appears many either use groovy round or teardrop.
So what is the pros and cons of all?
Here in New Zealand EC12s are a small but committed group of sailors. Not many of us left. Just my club on Kapiti Coast and the Christchurch folks in the South Island plus a small fleet in Nelson and Whanganui as far as I know..so the range to share ideas is rather small.
Thanks
Geoff

I guess no one is helping you out, waiting for someone from New Zealand to answer. Your NZ rule looks to be different than the USA rule. In the US very few people use a round mast with no groove. Most use a grooved teardrop shaped mast and and some use a grooved round mast. I know of only one sailmaker who makes boltrope sails in the US. Track slides is the general way of attaching the mainsail to the mast in the US.

Loops around the mast - legal in NZ. Not legal in US.

NZ rule
(d) The mainsail shall be attached to the after centreline of the mast using boltrope or internal sail track slides in grooved mast, or attached to a jack line by hooks, tubes or loops or by individual ties around the mast.

US rule
15.3
The mainsail shall be attached to the aft centerline of the mast by using a boltrope or internal sail track slides in a grooved mast; or by using hooks, tubes, or loops attached to a jackline.
