jumper height

Is there a reason why the old "Optimizing" book jumper location is still preferred on new rigs? 52 inches up as per "The Plan". Bob Wells wrote in the EC12 AMYA magazine issue #115 page that the jumpers should be at 58 5/8 inches up - 3/8 below the forestay mast attachment. His reason was that 52 inches causes an s bend in the mast - caused by the sideways pull of the uppers I suppose.

I have made a few rigs like Bob suggested and prefer it for the reason that it is pretty much impossible for the topping lift to hang up on the high jumpers.

Have people found that 52 inches up gives better performance?

Mine are at 59". The jumpers and the forestay tang are one unit.
