Suggest you look at Rick West's setup on his J class building site. Took me a while to figure it out from the photo, but I think it's what you want. I'm sure he'll email the details.

It is shown on June's boat. I got lucky and found it. I did a google site search on backstay and June's boat article was listed. (Google search did not lead directly to that photo.)

I've added a page showing how this is configured. Really makes adjustment of the backstay easier and more precise.

I have looked at Rick's J site, and at the picture on Paul's site and I am not convinced they are the same. Might just be my eyes, but I just can't tell. Are they?
Does anyone have a better picture of the setup? The site that Scott mentions is not available, and the one on Pauls site will not allow me to zoom close enough for me to see how to rig it.
Thanks,

No pics but it is easy to explain.
Tie a piece of line to the loop in your backstay. Pass the line through the two bottom holes in your bowsie. Then pass the line through the hook you will use at the transom, back up through the loop in the backstay and tie it off on the top hole on the bowsie.
Make sure the line is tied to the backstay and not the hook, otherwise you will be pulling up instead of down to tighten the backstay.

Do a google search on EC-12 tuning.
The first hit will be an article on EC-12 tuning that I wrote.
Scroll down to backstay tension and you will find a picture of what works.
The adjustment is downward to the deck!!!
Same as Kahle recommends.
The other items covered may be a little out of date.

Thank you both. I knew I had seen a larger photo somewhere. I have now read so much from so many places that I am forgetting where I saw stuff.
I am enjoying the build of my boat, but Lor-dy will I be glad when I am done. I want to sail the darn thing. Soon, soon....
Thanks again,
