EC12 Search

Hi All,

One of our club members has been bitten by the EC12 bug badly. He is a very competitive Etchells sailor and is looking for a fast boat. He was going to purchase Caroll Burgess boat that was listed with the PBG club in FL but missed the sale by 6 hours.

So, if anyone knows of a good competitive boat that might become available or is someone is looking to upgrade and wants to find a good home for their current boat, let me know.

Thanks,

Chuck

Hi Doug,

I suggested he order a hull and the rest of the bits but he is not a builder. It may come to that but he is looking for a good used boat first. I don't think the ones on E-bay fit the bill. He liked Barons boat but that sold, then he called Caroll Burgess and that one had sold as well.

What is the lead time for one of Scotts hulls?

Chuck

Demand! It is great to see how fast good boats are changing hands.I know several sailors are in the process of new boats so a little time may offer great rewards.

Chuck, I suggest you give Scott a Call

I would ballpark it at 4 weeks or so, but confirm with Scott first

Buying one of the boats on eBay is not a good idea unless one wants to sail them at their own private lake.

Dave Ramos will be a big help to this class for those that do not want to build. Let him know this. However, he has to get hulls like the rest of the folks.

I have a black and gray Robin hull hanging on the wall with rudder and Carr ballast and white RMD deck. All new for $400. I can include a Kahle rig to make it $500. I can bring it east in April.

It just does not pay to be gone for two days.

I am sure this boat would have worked out for our club guy.

Thanks anyway,

Chuck, If you call up Scott I am sure the boat can be delivered and built in time for the R1......if your super speedy maybe even in time for the Liberty Bell

Hi all,

Just an update to say that we were able to hook back up with Caroll Burgess boat that had moved from Jacksonville area down to Punta Gorda. Skip Peerless had bought it from Caroll and then elected to sell it. The deal was made and the boat made it's way to CT in the back of a pickup truck (covered bed) and is now safely in the hands of the new owner, Toby Doyle.

Thanks to everyone for your help.

Dave Ramos at CPM has a hull that may not be assigned. He has built an EC12 in a week when he has a hull. Dave is a top sailor and I would sail anything he builds because it is the same, I mean exact same as he sails.

This ready to sail production is not that far away and for those that do not want to build but want a new boat it is just a matter of money. There is a market and when we have availability the used market with then have availability.

Just to say again, the skipper is the fast boat. A 30-year old hull that is faired and with the latest gear and fresh sails will do better than fine. We will see it again at Stowe in a couple of weeks. A 1975 Treasure Tooling will be in the hunt.
