When sending main and jib out, they go about half way and then return even farther than original. Is my winch rotating in reverse ? Is the line on backward ? What options do I have for remedy ?

What type of winch do you have, what type/size of drum is on the winch?
You might have the wrong size drum for the job or you might have something snagging the line on the drum causing it to start coiling back up around the drum instead of continuing to feed out.

Have figured out the problem. Thanks for the input. My problem was all solved on the transmitter with a small adjustment in the length of the slack to the sheet lines.
