The suggested way of installing the rudder on my RMG hull is to use telescoping brass tubes and grease as a water seal. One of my club mates suggested that instead I use stainless hypodermic tubing due to the undue wear that is possible with brass. Granted that brass is softer, and will wear more than stainless, is it a significant enough difference to worry about? Has anyone ever had to replace a brass rudder bearing due to excessive wear?
Thanks,
ME.
