eye bolt

Postby Ric Mitchell » Thu Apr 21, 2005 8:29 am

Hello:
The pond i sail on has a sheer wall we launch from, about 2 foot from the water.
Is there a way to add an eye bolt similar to a lazer.
So i could use a handle to launch and retrieve with.
Maybe a loop tied to the compression post?

Thanks
Ric

Make a nylon fabric strap with two loops. One loop goes over the bow, the other over the stern. Size it to your taste.

STRAP

I am not sure size to taste is good advice. Maybe it can slip (drop boat), if not made per the ideal. Not sure what makes it slip and what does not, but apparently if it is made per the above it will be okay.

I see various lengths used without droppage on our pond. Some use just a length of pliable cord.

I am using regular braided line with the two loops at each end. Of course the bow loop is smaller than the stern loop, have had no problems.Using this system has been very good for me, a sailor with lower back problems. Try it out, you might like it, plus it's KISS (keep it simple stupid).
