threaded insert??????

Postby Doug Wotring » Mon Mar 28, 2005 10:09 pm

HI All, I am getting ready to mount my electronics mount on my J......oh I mean my EC-12........

I have a GReat planes 8-32 threaded insert I am planning on putting in the perm. ballast.

My question is what is the outside thread on that insert, I do not have a thread gauge, nor does it look like anything normal.

part two: Do we think this thread is self tapping....and if so do you think it will tap into lead providing the appropriate Tap drill size is used?

Please email me any replies tekebird@yahoo.com

I have sent you a method and a picture by email! I have mentioned this before that I have had alot of success by "overboring" the holes for the inserts and then placing them in epoxy attached to the mount I use for my electronics. This puts everything in the right position! Drilling lead is like herding cats! DougB BODACIOUS...and soon to be BLACK ROSE.
