Can anyone advise me of where I might procure the under deck wood pieces?

Lone Star Balsa has got all the wood you need in all the sizes you want. Including 12 inch wide balsa for the deck.

OR... If you need it NOW.. most hobbyshops who handle R/C aircraft have balsa and basswood in stock.(maybe not 12"X48" balsa...but usually) Let your fingers do the walking! Some even stock some really nice aircraft grade plywood...it's very strong! DougB
