Building a New Rudder

I had the same question. I have been following your construction closely, in case I ever wanted to do this myself. But, I have thought the the rudder looked to be too long. I thought it was just the pictures that distorted the look.

Um, huh? 3.5" Wazat? Max size? Oh, I'm sure it's exactly 3.5" (cough, cough).

Here it is, the final product. As you can see I completely neglected the class limit of 3.5". I did read Wells and I did read the class rules, but obviously I didn't remember what I read. It's a nice rudder, but it'll have to go.

There are a couple of things that I don't like about this one anyway. Take a look at the shape. I don't really care for the bottom edge.

Here's another pic that shows what I mean. It doesn't follow the bottom of the keel very well.

It's also not as perfectly shaped as I like. With this last pic I tried to show how the trailing edge is not perfectly straight. I'm not sure this really shows it well.
