I am in favor of a boat retiring that has harmed or put another boat at a disadvantage because of a foul. And I like the suggestion to remain retired till the one offended can return to racing. While I like to think we all want to do the right thing and support our friends through the Rules, I don't believe it for a moment. Joe's conduct at the NCR by retiring from the event because of a mistake causing another to be unable to continue in the event was an act of courage and unheard of good sportsmanship. Since that example I have seen questionable tactics.
