Passing of Marty Scheuer

Postby dplin2001 » Wed Mar 11, 2015 2:27 pm

I'm sad to report the passing of Marty yesterday. he died from ongoing complications from heart surgery last year. I'm happy that we got to sail with him one last time last week. He sailed well and had a big smile on his face. He may not have been one of the top sailors, but I've never met a guy happier just to be out sailing with his friends. He was one of the great guys.

We'll all miss you Marty !!!

Marty was gracious and a fine sailor, in recent years he had represented the Turtle Pond Model Yacht Club sailing his EC12 at the Villages, Sun City, Oak Hollow NCR and the Gone With the Wind in Atlanta. He missed last years first Peachtree City Regatta, but was there smiling as always.
Fair Winds Marty.

Damn. He was one of the good guys, meaning he had the attitude of one wearing a white hat. He was a great sport on the water. I did not know he had been ill.

I had the distinct pleasure of sailing with Marty, and join you skippers in wishing him fair winds and following seas on the other side.

That is very sad news. Marty was a great guy, and was a pleasure to have around at our regattas where he made an appearance. Condolences to his friends and family.
