Lunch Break

Postby marcsmith » Fri Mar 16, 2012 4:48 pm

Took a long lunch break today.

Sailed the Vic on tuesday and wednesday. brought the EC12 out today. dreary day, no rain, but not much wind either...

not sure if a regatta could ever be held there, it would be nifty but probably a logistical nightmare...

Nice photo, Marc. Looks quiet on the Mall.

There was a time when the basin was active with model yacht racing. WPA days, I think.

Mike I think you are correct.

I did send in an email to architect of the capitol asking the question... all the parking on either side of the reflecting pool are all reserved permit only 24/7. and the rest of the available parking is all metered first come first served..

while the venue would be nice, no need for a rescue boat, easy to set marks, the logistics of food/parking/bathroom would be an issue, IMO with hosting a regatta there... not to mention, when folk start setting up easy-ups, beach chairs, ect.. it would probably ruffle some feathers..

Hey-- The Occupy DC Regatta Only protests filed by legal counsel will be heard. and all Penalties must be 1 360 clock wise and 1 360 counterclockwise to account for the political spin in the area....

That's more like a vortex - sucking everything in and nothing coming out. Then there's the floating chad's and some poor skipper running into someone's kid while concentrating on his boat...... Forget it, there's better places to sail without the hassle.
